The Cremona Civic School of Music was founded in the early seventies; later, from 2002, The School has been authorised by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) to issue university-level qualifications (AFAM): this acknowledgement created the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali, named “Claudio Monteverdi” as the previous institution.
Our Conservatory vaunts a string orchestra, a school choir, the “Animosi” Baroque Ensemble and numerous chamber music groups.
The educational profile is complemented by cooperation with institutes shared with the musicology course of the Pavia University, the Cremona international violin making school and the “Stauffer” foundation. A wide range of introductory and amateur curricula for all ages is guaranteed by the presence of the Scuola Civica.
The Conservatory presents close to 50 public events annually. These are staged both in the school’s halls as well as numerous other venues in the city.
Over the years outstanding teachers have walked through our classes, including Maurizio Leoni, Piero Rattalino, Andrea Cigni, Sandra Pacetti, Maurizio Baglini, Giovanni Bellucci, Silvia Chiesa, Manuel Tomadin, Roberto Arosio, Laura Gorna, Lorenzo Di Bella or Mario Luperi. The starting project of Masterclasses and workshops will refine the direct work with artistic personalities.
The great level of teaching makes the school a meeting place for students from different parts of Italy. The Vocal department also attracts pupils from all over the world, particuarly from South Korea and China.
Courses are coordinated under three areas of discipline, ranging from voice to strings and keyboards.
